In addition to Fuel Up to Play 60, there are other funding opportunities for you to consider. The Healthier U.S. School Challenge (HUSSC) was established in 2004. In 2010, the program added monetary incentive awards for each HUSSC level: Bronze Silver, Gold, and Gold Award of Distinction. The monetary incentives were added in conjunction with first lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign.

The HUSSC incentive awards by level:

  • Bronze: $500
  • Silver: $1,000
  • Gold: $1,500
  • Gold Award of Distinction: $2,000

You can find information on the HUSSC pages, linked above, as well as through the National Dairy Council’s website.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also offer funding opportunities for schools through their Coordinated School Health (CSH) program. The program includes resources to help schools, districts, and states take the steps needed to improve school health programs. This includes funding opportunities, which you can find more information about in the CSH FAQ section.
