Don’t forget our upcoming webinar on April 18th: Managing Food Safety When Handling Fresh Produce in Schools. During this webinar we will explore the following learning objectives:

  • Participants will be able to explain why fresh produce is associated with an increased risk of foodborne illness, and will be able to identify types of fresh produce that are considered potentially hazardous.
  • Participants will understand best practices for handling fresh produce in schools, including recommendations for classrooms and salad bars.
  • Participants will learn about strategies for training school nutrition staff to handle fresh produce.

On May 1, 2012 we will be conducting a 60-minute Q&A Peer2Peer Connect discussion on managing food safety when handling fresh produce in schools. The School Nutrition Foundation, in partnership with the USDA Food & Nutrition Service’s Office of Food Safety is offering this call FREE on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. SNA members and non-members are invited to connect and share ideas, resources, and comments, and to ask questions regarding nutrition, quality, and safety in regard to handling fresh produce in schools.
