Offered through a partnership between the National Dairy Council and General Mills Foodservice, the official call for applications went out on Monday, July 14—kicking off the first day of the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference in Boston.

Schools that participate in the School Breakfast Program (SBP) and that are enrolled in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program are eligible to apply for Fuel Up™ Breakfast Grants. This is the sixth year that National Dairy Council and General Mills have partnered to offer schools the opportunity to implement and expand their school breakfast programs. Schools will receive up to $2000 value in equipment to support their grant initiative.

According to this article from the Wall Street Journal, General Mills Foodservice has awarded $375,000 in Fuel Up™ Grants since 2009; most grant recipients have used the awards to expand breakfast outside the cafeteria to improve student access to, and participation in, school breakfast.
