We are always on the lookout for funding opportunities to share with our readers and this week two wonderful school breakfast grants came across our desks. The first is the Breakfast Blitz competition, with Fuel Up to Play 60 and Got Milk? Milk Moustache campaign, and the second is through the American Association of School Administrators. Apply now!
Breakfast Blitz
Not only is the Breakfast Blitz competition an opportunity to win a $1000 grant for the breakfast program at a local school, the prizes are amazing! How does a trip for four to Super Bowl XLVIII, free milk for a year, and two tickets to a local NFL game sound? There are five tiers of prizes, starting with the Breakfast Blitz Fuel pack, all the way on up to the Super Bowl in February, and entering is simple: just enter the sweepstakes online by submitting UPC codes from any size milk package. American Association of School Administrators
The AASA is currently accepting applications for alternative school breakfast funding for 2013-14. Here are the requirements to apply for AASA school breakfast funding:
- The school district superintendent must be a member of the AASA
- The district must be in an urban area
- The district must have a 50 percent or greater eligibility overall for free and reduced-price meals; and/or the schools participating (as outlined in the application) must have a 50 percent or greater eligibility for free/reduced-priced meals
- Average of the schools participating in this program must have breakfast participation at or below 40 percent
- The district must have written support from the superintendent, district food service director, and principals of participating schools
- Alternative breakfast model selection should include the “best practice” of Breakfast in the Classroom for elementary schools and “Grab-n-Go” for middle/high schools
