Hurry! It’s not too late to make your tax-deductible donation to the 2016 Annual Fund, and help us reach the $50,000 mark for the first time in many years. We have more than doubled the number of donations this year, as states compete to achieve the highest percentage of participation and secure scholarship dollars for their state. Make your contribution before midnight on Saturday, December 31, 2016, and for those who have already given—thank you so much!

Your donation makes an impact! Contributions to SNF support professional development, research, and scholarships for SNA members, all of which support our profession and the students we serve every day.

Giving Tuesday Update

Our third Giving Tuesday was a smashing success. We recieved $6427 in response to our call for Giving Tuesday donations, increasing the number of gifts from 42 in 2015 to 70 in 2016—a 64.3 percent increase. We’re also pleased to report that more than half of donations (51.4 percent) were from first-time donors, up from 14.3 percent in 2015. We received six times as many new gifts this year—36, up from 6 in 2015. Gifts ranged in size from $10 to $500, and we’re grateful for every dollar contributed!

Our friends at AccuTemp Products offered a Giving Tuesday matching challenge, donating $20 for every new donor who made a gift of $10 or more; their effort added $1360 to our Giving Tuesday total.

2014 School Nutrition Hero Sandy Kramer (also a 2016 SNF Ambassador) donated $1 for each of the members of her staff, for a total of $32 while Debbi Beauvais (director, Gates-Chili Central School District, NY) shared #UNSelfies from each of the schools in her district; when Beauvais turned in her staff’s donations, they pushed us past the $6400 mark for Giving Tuesday! It was a day full of giving and gratitude, and we thank you all for your generosity and support!

About the Annual Fund

Established in 1964, the Annual Fund provides SNA members with financial support for education and professional development, as well as to support research and offer scholarships. Your contributions are used to assist fellow school nutrition professionals with the skills, the knowledge, and the insight required to meet the challenges in providing nutrition and in developing healthy habits so that students are well-nourished and prepared for success in school.
