The Beyond Breakfast crew, along with the entire staff of the School Nutrition Foundation, wants to wish all of our readers—parents, students, teachers, school foodservice professionals, and everyone else who is so passionate about making sure our children receive healthy, nutritious school meals–a holiday season full of love and light, and a Happy New Year in 2012!

It has been an exciting year for the Beyond Breakfast blog—we’ve traveled to conferences in Washington, D.C. and Nashville, TN to bring you coverage of the Legislative Action Conference and the Annual National Conference, respectively; we have visited schools in Memphis, Dallas, Prince George’s County, Orange County, and Little Rock to see first-hand the impact breakfast-in-the-classroom is making in the lives of students; we have covered topics as varied as school lunch, the proposed USDA meal pattern changes, social media, menuing, webinars, food insecurity, and much, much more. We look forward to bringing you even more in 2012, including information on new topics like food allergies, marketing, emerging research in nutrition/school food, and of course the latest on the proposed meal pattern rule we expect to see in the next month or two.

Do you have any topics you want to see covered here at Beyond Breakfast in 2012? Do you know a school foodservice professional who is passionate about breakfast and would like to spread the word about breakfast? Do you know someone who should be featured in our “Spotlight” category? Leave us a comment, or email Beyond Breakfast blogger Christina Uticone at c.e.uticone@gmail.com.

From our family to yours, we wish you the happiest holiday season and a brilliant New Year!
