We are so excited to participate in today’s I Love #SchoolBreakfast campaign with our friends at FRAC! Join us all day on Facebook and Twitter to share the reasons you love school breakfast, and interact with other school breakfast champions. The social media event is coordinated with the release of FRAC’s annual reports that focus on participation in the National School Breakfast Program; the reports include:
- School Breakfast Scorecard: Analyzes school breakfast participation among low-income children nationally and in each state and the District of Columbia for the 2013-14 school year and looks at effective federal, state, and local strategies for increasing participation in the program.
- School Breakfast—Making it Work in Large School Districts: A look at school breakfast participation, trends, and best practices for reaching more low-income children in our nation’s largest school districts.
Follow our five easy steps to get ready and get talking about school breakfast tomorrow, February 10, 2015.
Step One: Connect!
Don’t forget to connect with all of the Partners for Breakfast in the Classroom:
- Food Research and Action Center: FRAC on Facebook, FRAC on Twitter (on Instagram: @fracgram)
- NEA HIN: NEA HIN on Facebook, NEA HIN on Twitter
- National Association of Elementary School Principals Foundation: NAESP on Facebook, NAESP on Twitter
Step Two: Connect … Again!
We also invite you to connect with us on our brand new Partners for Breakfast in the Classroom Facebook and Twitter accounts! We are thrilled to announce that the Partners for Breakfast in the Classroom consortium is establishing brand-new spaces to grow the conversation around school breakfast—please like our new Facebook page and follow us on Twitter!
Step Three: Tag It!
On Tuesday, February 10 make sure you get online and share the school breakfast love! Use the hashtag #schoolbreakfast – and make sure you tag FRAC at @fractweets – and join in the conversation about why you love school breakfast. Maybe your favorite part about school breakfast is how it helps students get ready to learn in the morning, or maybe you love the way school breakfast helps address hunger in your community. Maybe you just love the way school breakfast tastes—we do, too!
Step Four: Snap to It!
Sharing a photo of your school breakfast on Facebook and Twitter is a great way to spread the word about the healthy, nutritious morning meal available to the students at your school. We recommend checking out the photography and social media tips from School Meals That Rock to help you maximize the impact of your school or district’s social media channels—today, and every day!
Step Five: Keep it Up!
School breakfast is more popular than ever before. Administrators, teachers, and parents are becoming aware of the amazing benefits for students, and school nutrition professionals are amazed at increase in participation when grab-n-go, classroom, and Second Chance models are introduced.
