We are all rested up from the March whirlwind that was National School Breakfast Week, and we are ready to embark upon another celebration—two, in fact! We have two upcoming opportunities to celebrate the special school nutrition professionals in your life: School Nutrition Employee Week, which runs May 6-10, and School Lunch Superhero Day which will be celebrated on Friday, May 3. Everybody has been talking about it, including the folks over at the Let’s Move! blog.
School Lunch Superhero Day—Friday, May 3, 2013
In collaboration with Random House Children’s Books and author/illustrator Jarrett J. Krosoczka (Lunch Lady graphic novel series), the School Nutrition Association is marking May 3, 2013 as School Lunch Superhero Day. Intended to give students and parents the opportunity to recognize and show appreciation for school cafeteria staffers. Check out the School Lunch Superhero Day website to find ideas on how to celebrate, inspiring stories of real-life school lunch superheroes, and information on the Lunch Lady graphic novels.
School Nutrition Employee Week—May 6-10, 2013
SNA has designated School Nutrition Employee week as an opportunity for us to recognize the hard working school nutrition professionals who staff our schools’ cafeterias. Preparing healthy meals for students is important work, from adhering to nutrition standards to handling student food allergies, to the emotional support they provide to their students day in and day out—School Nutrition Employee Week is an opportunity to say THANK YOU for the amazing work they do.
