It’s almost time for ANC, everyone! The School Nutrition Association’s team is assembling on the ground in San Antonio, Texas this week, in anticipation of our 70th Annual National Conference. It’s going to be a very busy, but very rewarding week and we’re looking forward to seeing you all at the Henry B. González Convention Center.
Once you arrive and check in at registration, you will receive your handy ANC 2016 guide and other materials to help you navigate the convention center and San Antonio. Here is where you will find the Foundation at ANC 2016.
ANC On the Go App: Annual Fund
Don’t forget to download the ANC ‘On the Go’ app, an amazing tool to help you organize your conference experience. When you open the app, use the navigation icon in the upper-left hand corner to view the menu where you will find “Donate to SNF” listed as an option. Simply click to donate! Or use the “Pledge a Donation” option to pledge your contribution, and we will send you an email reminder to complete at a later time.
Foundation Booth
Stop by the SNF booth, located in the SNA Marketplace. In addition to staff, we will have volunteers helping us at the booth throughout the conference, including some of our 2016 School Nutrition Heroes and 2016 State Ambassadors. Many of our volunteers are also SNF scholarship recipients; if you have questions about pursuing one of our education and professional development scholarships we encourage you to visit the SNF booth. As of July 1 we had 57 volunteers from 33 states on our signup sheet, with more names coming in. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
School Nutrition Hero Alumni
Nine of our fifteen School Nutrition Heroes will be attending ANC this year, and we’re so excited to welcome them to San Antonio. From our 2014 class of heroes we’ll see Sandi Kramer (South Dakota), Joanne Terry (Florida), and Karen Watson (Alabama); from the 2015 class Jill Kidd (Colorado), Robert Rusan (Missouri), and Nancy Younglove (New York) will join us; from the 2016 class is Chris Burkhardt (Ohio), Sandra Hearn (Mississippi), and Jody Houston (Texas).
Did you know that the nomination period for 2017 School Nutrition Heroes is now open? We are accepting your nominations now through Friday, October 21, 2016.
School Nutrition Research & Best Practices Showcase with Kathleen Stitt Award Winner
We will be bringing you an interview with this year’s Kathleen Stitt Award winner after ANC, but you can meet Tracee Watkins yourself in San Antonio! Don’t miss her poster at the SN Research & Best Practices Showcase on Monday, July 11, starting at 11 a.m. A student at Kansas State University, Watkins’ poster is entitled, “Time & Temperature Control of Foods in the Summer Food Service Program”.
