About National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month (NNM) is focused on highlighting the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme for National Nutrition Month 2012 is “Get Your Plate in Shape.” NNM began as National Nutrition Week in 1973, but by 1980 there was so much interest and excitement that the event was ‘upgraded’ to National Nutrition Month in 1980.

To learn more about National Nutrition Month, and to access educational and media materials related to NNM, visit the EatRight.org website. You can find even more National Nutrition Month information at USDA.gov.
