It’s hard to believe that September has already passed us by! Now that the 2013-14 school year is in full swing we are seeing so many positive, exciting stories about what’s going on in schools around the country—we had to share a few with you!
First, we want to remind you that there are funding opportunities available through the GENYouth Foundation and Fuel Up to Play 60.
- GENYouth Foundation’s AdVenture Capital Grant was established to find and fund student-led wellness programs. All students enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60 are eligible. To apply for AdVenture Capital you have to join Fuel Up to Play 60. (See below.) Winners earn grants for their schools of up to $4000 along with national recognition, and some awesome rewards. View the application process online. The application deadline for these funds is October 22, 2013.
- Schools enrolled in FUTP60 are eligible to receive up to $4000 per year to help their school community get healthy through improving nutrition and physical activity. Fuel Up to Play 60 gives everyone the opportunity to get involved and get active—students, teachers, administrators, and families. The next deadline is November 1, 2013. Fuel up to Play 60 funds can be used to expand and extend existing initiatives in your school, or to roll out a new program but you must be enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60 to apply. Enroll online now!
In addition to the Fuel Up to Play 60 grant opportunity, FUTP60 is also offering educators in participating schools the opportunity to attend the NFL Pro Bowl! The contest, offered in partnership with Let’s Move! Active Schools, is giving away two NFL Pro Bowl tickets to one lucky educator at a Let’s Move! Active School. Educators who apply for Funds for Fuel Up to Play 60 this fall –OR Program Advisors at enrolled Let’s Move! Active Schools – are eligible to win! If you are a Fuel Up to Play 60 Program Advisor, visit your Dashboard at FuelUpToPlay60.com to learn more, or as you are filling out a Funds for Fuel Up to Play 60 application, be sure to acknowledge that you are a Let’s Move! The School Nutrition Foundation is also thrilled to mark our 50th anniversary! We hope you will join us in this year-long celebration, during which we have set the goal to raise $50,000!
