A reminder to our readers who are school foodservice professionals: You still have time to sign up for our last webinar of the calendar year entitled “Chefs in Schools: Increasing Participation and Gaining Renewed Excitement Around Your School Meal Program.”

The chefs in schools movement has been sweeping across America, but we know many of you are asking yourselves how you can implement such a program at your own school. This National Diary Council-sponsored webinar was designed with that question in mind, and we will cover topics that can help you move forward in working with a chef in your community:

  • What steps should you follow to bring a chef into your school?
  • How do you manage expectations between the director, the food service staff, and the chef?
  • How can you best utilize a chef’s expertise to enhance the nutrition program through recipe development, food education, culinary skills, and marketing?
  • What resources (Fuel Up to Play 60, etc.) can you use to provide a framework for reaching out to students and engaging them in the food they are eating?

Presenters and speakers include Danny Seymour, Dean of Education, School Nutrition Association; Kern Halls, Manager/Chef Orange County Public Schools; Chef Tom French of Experience Food project. You can see a full outline of details about the webinar on our website, where you can also register to attend.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday December 14. The webinar begins at 2 p.m. ET and will last approximately 75 minutes.
