At Partners for Breakfast at the Classroom, we love school breakfast 365 days a year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get extra excited for National School Breakfast Week! Held annually, this year’s National School Breakfast Week theme is “Wake Up! to School Breakfast” and will be celebrated March 7-11. Are you ready? We have a few ideas to help you finalize your plans!

School Nutrition Association Resources

Haven’t even thought about National School Breakfast Week yet? No problem! The School Nutrition Association has a comprehensive set of resources to help you get started, including these amazing graphics like the one below that are perfect for Facebook as well as printed materials:

NSBW 2016

Download the NSBW Toolkit to help you get organized, fast, with marketing information, ideas for NSBW celebrations, school breakfast fast facts, and more.

USDA Team Nutrition

Head on over to the USDA Team Nutrition NSBW resource page to find even more valuable school breakfast materials to help you raise the profile on your NSBW celebration. From bulletin board posters and infographics to standardized USDA school breakfast recipes, Team Nutrition also links to additional USDA school breakfast resources with guidance on regulations, menu planning, and more.

Food Research and Action Center

National School Breakfast Week offers the perfect opportunity to reach out to stakeholders and strengthen support for your school breakfast program—or to gather support for a new one. While bulletin boards and special menus will reach your students, you may want to provide some additional information for parents, administrators, community partners, and the media. FRAC’s school breakfast resource page includes links to a variety of reports (like the annual School Breakfast Scorecard that was recently released) to help you promote school breakfast—including alternative delivery models like breakfast-in-the-classroom.

NEA Healthy Futures

Check in with our partners at NEA Healthy Futures and download Start School with Breakfast: A Guide to Increasing Participation. Not only will you get a crash course in alternative delivery models for school breakfast, like Grab-n-Go and breakfast-in-the-classroom, but you can tailor the marketing and promotional techniques provided for your NSBW 16 celebration.
